TITLE : What to mix or not with glycolic acid
SCRIPT
Retinal — No, not at the same time.
Retinal speeds up skin turnover, while glycolic acid exfoliates the outer layers of skin
— using them together can easily add up to more irritation.
I recommend alternating nights.
Salicylic acid — Not recommended.
They don’t chemically clash, and AHA + BHA products do exist.
The issue is cumulative irritation.
Glycolic acid mainly exfoliates the skin’s surface,
while salicylic acid is oil-soluble and works deeper inside the pores.
Layering both at effective strengths can increase the risk of irritation.
Vitamin C — umm.. not recommended
vit.C in the morning, glycolic acid at night
Niacinamide — Yes.
It supports the skin barrier and
can help offset some of the dryness or irritation caused by glycolic acid.
Hyaluronic acid — Yes.
A great pairing.
It adds hydration so can help reduce the dryness you may feel after using glycolic acid.
Azelaic acid — Not recommended.
You can use them together, but both can cause irritation, so I prefer using them at different times or on alternate nights.
Follow Lina — Definitely yes!
